Writer, poet and director Eylem Tok’s first novel, Mihr —the psychological story of a girl forced to be a woman before her time— was published in 2013, and has remained a fixture on Turkey’s bestseller list ever since.
Her second novel, Allah’ın Piyonları (The Pawns of God), was then published in Turkey in 2014.
Tok’s first children’s book, The Giant and the Three Dwarves, was published in English in the UK, in 2016, and hit shelves in the US and Canada as well. An adaptation of the same book was published in Turkish, as Dev ile Üç Cüce, in Turkey in 2019.
Her abstract art film from 2016, Sintiyatpera (Cintheapera) has been nominated for the finals of many Turkish and international film festivals.
Her new novel, Spots, which tells the tale of a dog in the city, and book of poetry, Bitter Sugar, were introduced at the London Book Fair and will soon be on British bookstore shelves.
